How do I demand property insurance information from my landlord?

Business Questions 6 views 2 answers
I am a renter who lives in a separate dwelling on the LL property. For 3 weeks she refused to fix my broken stairs. I am disabled and medically compromised. The stair broke and I fell. An ambulance was called. I went to the hospital. She gave my husband and I a 30 day notice to move the next day. She refuses to provide that info. I am only 3 days in from the fall and have not been able to locate and retain an attorney as of yet. I am going to start the process myself.

I am sorry you had such a bad experience with your landlord. My firm handles a lot of these type of cases. Generally you start with a letter asking/demanding the information, but if your landlord refuses then you will have to file a complaint and ask for the information in discovery. However, it is possible your landlord did not have adequate insurance or any insurance and your landlord will be paying out of their own pocket which can be more difficult to recover for your damages. Almost all initial consultations in these types of cases are free, I suggest you set up some initial consultations to discuss this one on one with some local attorneys to see what your options are going forward.

I strongly advise you to contact a lawyer to handle your claim. Initial consultations with a personal injury lawyer are free, and when you sign up with a personal injury lawyer for this kind of case, they do not collect a fee from you unless you receive a settlement or jury verdict.
