Charged with a DUI. Breathalyzer and blood test show .167. I filled out the application for ARD. My court date is June 21st. I did the CRN evaluation, I have to do 24 hrs of community service, pay about $2000 in court fees and 60 day license suspension. Would getting a lawyer get me out of any of this? I can't afford the $2000. This DUI court date already cost me a huge promotion and job. Isn't that punishment enough? If I lose my license I have NO WAY of getting to work. I laready looked into public transportation and no buses where I work. I thought everyone is entitled to legal representation?? If I pay for a lawyer I can't pay the court costs!!! I could make payments but the court and a lawyer want a lump sum upfront....please help!!!!! This happened in Montco, Pa and I live in Phila

Hello there, I agree with the other lawyers answer about contacting the local bar association. You can also contact the National College of DUI Defense that is located there in Montgomery. Sincerely, Erick Platten

Contact the Montgomery County Bar Association to use their Lawyer Referral Service. They should be able to refer you to an attorney from their "limited fee" list - these attorneys agree to take cases with a discounted rate and often set up payment plans.

I agree with both attorneys, contact the Montgomery County Bar Association for the lawyer referral service. You can always contact a private attorney and see if the attorney will make payment arrangements with you. Paul A. Bauer, III, Esquire

in addition to the advice given above to contact your local bar association you may want to check if any Defense Attorneys in your area offer a free consultation. You may be able to have some of these questions answered at no cost to you.
