Can my previous trucking company not pay my last paycheck and quarterly bonus?

Business Questions 3 views 2 answers
I quit my job a week ago and delivered my last load to the company yard in Fremont, Ne. It was a short pay period but ran 1900 miles, tarped two loads, and was told I would get paid for detention from waiting in Sacramento, Ca. Now that I have left I didn't receive an emailed settlement like usual and my wife called about getting some forgotten belongings sent to me and I pay for them. They told her that my belongings were put into storage and that there were damages to the truck, damages that I have no knowledge of. Also haven't received my bonus check for the 31954 miles ran the previous quarter.

You need to consult an attorney in the state where your company has its headquarters. These issues will not be decided by Georgia law..

In my experience, trucking companies (big and small) love to cheat and screw over their drivers . . . and they do so in some of the most brazen and outrageous ways. If you kept your own set of good records and are willing to invest in litigation, you will probably prevail in court. The problem is that often times the value of a trucker's claim is not enough for an attorney to take on the case on a contingency basis, and the trucker does not have enough to pay the attorney by the hour, so the trucking company gets away with it.
