It matters not the name of the insurance company. Insurance companies are part of the financial services sector of the economy, which means that they exist to optimize profits. In optimization of their profits they aggresively collect premiums, but when it comes time to pay out, they will delay, deny and defend all claims. The adjuster that you speak with has a supervisor, a regional manager and many others looking over their shoulders and reading each and every note in the file to assure that the claim payment is minimized to the maximum degree. If you are facing this barrage alone, then you have opted to work on an uneven playing field. It would be the same as one person taking the field alone against a major league baseball team. The insurance industry's own statistics indicate that when an attorney becomes involved, the value of any claim at least doubles. So, the answer to your question as to when they come with settlement negotiations is whenever they feel like they can take advantage of you. The answer to your other question, I think I've already answered. I practice in Massachusetts and New Hampshire, but the character of the insurance industry and its approach towards claims handling is universal in nature.

I'm not sure if you are the plaintiff or defendant and whether you have an attorney or not. If you are a plaintiff with no attorney, I would recommend getting one, as you can't do this yourself.

Agree with the other contributors. Law is no different than any other business or endeavor, you get what you pay for. Good luck.

It's unclear where this happened, how it happened, and what your involvement is. If you are the person injured you should talk to an attorney that does this type of work and get an idea of what your options are. If you are at fault, the insurance company should be handling the issues for you.
