Inmate was at a state prison. Was supposed to be released in November. They were transferred to a county jail for a day, then taken to a federal prison in another state. The information on the state prison states the inmate release reason was General Release. What does this mean?
It sounds like this inmate has some federal time to serve. Was there an earlier federal sentence, and maybe this is supervised release being revoked on the old federal sentence?
If inmate is in Federal Bureau of Prisons custody, s/he will be on the inmate locator, https://www.bop.gov/inmateloc/ . If inmate is in Marshals' custody, there will be (should be) a Federal Defender appointed. Even if not, they will be soon, so call the local office and see if they can offer any information.
Good luck and courage.
