Two years ago my husband and I gave temporary guardianship to my grandparents and was told no strings attached when we got stable the guardianship would go back to us well now they have filed for permanent guardianship for some odd reason and I want to know what I have to do to petition against them to get back full custody of our girls

Unless your parental rights have been terminated, there is a presumption that the best interest of your children would be served by being in your custody. Your grandparents will have to prove to the court that the children would be better off with you and your husband. The best thing for you to do is to talk with a family law attorney and have him/her represent you in this.

Anyone at anytime may petition the court to become someone's guardian/conservator. There really is never any permanency.
