Can a apartment complex lock me out of a gated community for non payment of rent?

My roommate moved out and I’m unable to pay my rent this month. They said they would start the eviction process. I have received no paper work but my FOB to access my building has been deactivated. I don’t have access to my building without it.

This depends on whether you are an actual tenant or a room mate of the actual tenant. Denying you access by deactivating your fob might be a violation of Fla. Stat. 83.67. Otheriwise - you might simply be an illicit resident guest of the actual tenant - who appears to have abandoned the unit, and that would be different. The bottom line is - if you can;t make rent - you need to leave ASAP and go somewhere else because IF the LL files an eviction that names you this may keep you from renting anywhere decent for many years.
I agree with Mr. Gaffney. Without more facts and without reviewing the lease, impossible to give you a yes or no answer. See a lawyer and let him or her review your lease. In the meantime, call a neighbor in the building and see if you can be let in so you can start moving out. If you can't pay the rent, you have to leave.
generally, no; but this depends on a number of unstated facts; for example, are you a "tenant" on the Lease? Did your roommate "surrender" the apartment to the landlord? Is there any personal property left in the apartment? Have you been there, easily observable, for the last two weeks. In any event, you can't get any help for this here on line. Take your lease to a god local tenants lawyer for review. hope this helps. gsg
