Why am I being ordered to pay unpaid child support in one state when another state has been collecting child support?

My ex and I divorced and had a court order for child support completed in Texas. A few years ago I found out she moved with our children to Massachusetts, without my knowledge, when I received a letter that they were placed into Massachusetts state custody. I helped her through this period and visited our children during state supervised visitation. I have never lived in MA but I just received a letter of past due support. Texas has been collecting support since 2003. Is this "past due" support order from MA legal?

Please contact the child support collection agency in Massachusetts and ask them upon what order are they are basing their request for past due child support. If it is the Texas order then send them a copy of your recent child support payment record from the Texas Attorney General's Office. Hopefully that will fix the problem. However, if there is a Massachusetts order, then I suggest you obtain a Massachusetts attorney to straighten this out.
