Petty theft pc 484a first offense

I did a horrible thing..and was arrested and charged with petty theft 484a..caught by target.merchandise added up to $175. This is my first ever arrest.I've heard of something called a deferred prosecution which can eventually have this dropped. What are my chances of obtaining this and does a guilty plea have to be entered prior? I'm terrified and do not have much money to afford an attorney. Please help me. Would a public defender be able to enter this deferred prosecution for me. My main concern is having a conviction on my record for employers to see. Is this my best option? Are there any independant lawyers out there working i the west covina area i can contact?I am willing to do any classes and community service the court gives me in order to avoid conviction..

Your public defender can obtain an alternative sentence for you. Good Luck. Andrew Roberts

Hello there, If you don't have any other prior convictions it is most likely you would receive a deferred disposition. Sincerely, Erick Platten
