My mother & I co-signed a bail bond for my grandson- he cut monitor off and has fled. How can we get off of his bond

My mother and I co-signed a bail bond for my grandson, her great-grandson, we both are on a fixed income. While out on bond, he cut his ankle monitor off and has fled, WE DO NOT know where he is, and I have tried several times to communicate with him and begging him to turn himself in. However, he will not respond to any of my messages. How do we or is there any way we can get out of his bond. My mother is 85 yrs and I'm 64 and on a disability fixed income. neither one of us expected him to do this.
I very sorry to hear about your problem.
Unfortunately, Jason is correct; you cannot be released from his bond, and any money or collateral you have placed up for his bond will likely be estreated (taken by the State) for your failure to ensure his appearance.
The only way to avoid estreatment at this point is to either get him to appear in court, or to work with a bondsman or law enforcement agency to get him in custody and get him back before the court.
Good luck to you.

Sorry, no. The point of the bond is to insure he appears. If you are on the bond, it was your responsibility to insure he appeared, or lose what you put up. All you can do now is help get him caught and returned. That can get the bond released. He doesn't seem to care about costing you, so you may want to not care about costing him. Tell the police where he is or what number he is at, hire a bounty hunter to catch him, something.
