What is the normal time frame for attorney to complete Marital Settlement?

This is a general question, but I was wondering how long it normally takes to put together a Marital Settlement and a Parenting Plan? I'm going on 5 months now, with nothing finalized and submitted to my soon to be ex-husband yet. I have paid my attorney payments along the way and only have 1 payment left next week. It just seems to be very slow, or my perception of how long it actually takes is wrong?

This is slow. A MSA can be put together in as little as a couple of days to a couple of weeks if the attorney is particularly busy. I suggest you speak with your attorney and address your concerns about the delay. Good luck.

That does seem to be slow. However, there may have been missing information that took time to receive. Additionally, it may be that the attorney did not want to finalize the matter until all of the payments had been made, in order to insure being paid. Typically, a marital settlement agreement should take somewhere between one week to several weeks, depending on how complex, how busy the attorney is during that particular time period, and many other factors which could cause this to vary. If you have concerns, you should discuss them with your attorney.

There is a serious communication problem here. An MSA and parenting plan should not take more than two weeks to be presented to a client for review and approval.
