I made an appointment i was feeling this type of sensitive spot between 1 of my teeth on my upper left side for about a week i thought it could've been a cavity between my teeth but he said it wasn't. He looked at all my x-rays and stated i have no cavities and that the sensitive spot that i was feeling in that area might be that i need a deep cleaning!!! So he pulled out this tool that look just like a hook with a pointy tip and started on the right and bottom of the right of my mouth he went between my gums and teeth grinding that tool in my mouth, i had to tell him to stop because he was hurting me with this tool i was in crazy pain, i told him be gentle it hurts and he kept on till i said thats it i cant take it no more, now my whole jaw and my whole right side hurts, i cant even eat. never in my life i've gotten a cleaning like this. Now when i bite all my teeth hurt i can't even chew my food right that's how much pain im in because of him using this tool!!! my whole upper and lower jaw hurts like crazy. Can i sue this dentist for the work he did to my mouth i feel that what he was doing wasn't right i told him to be easy with what he was doing and he kept on drilling away into my gums and teeth ouccchhh Husband: Wow!!! I never thought I would see my wife in so much pain after a dental cleaning. Jesus christ! Who do i need to speak to about this!

No. The "hook" is an explorer to test for cervical caries. It is possible that there is some enamel missing from your tooth or that you have a cavity. If the pain persists, go to another dentist.

Sorry, I don't believe this is a viable case. The simple fact that the cleaning caused pain is not malpractice. Even if the dentist was negligent, your case would be cost prohibitive. Always get a second opinion. This sounds like a scenario not worth pursuing. Feel better.

I don't think I can see a case here. He may not have used the best technique, but I do not know that this is malpractice. The damages would be minimal from what you have described so you may have difficulty finding an attorney to accept your case. If you feel strongly, you should attempt to contact medical malpractice lawyers in Brooklyn for a free consultation. You should be aware that there is a statute of limitations of 2 1/2 years for dental malpractice in New York.

This might be a tough case for you to win. You would have to prove that he committed malpractice in the treatment he provided to you. It doesn't sound like this would be a great case to pursue. I would consult with a local medical malpractice attorney to get more answers. Most will offer a free initial consultation. Good Luck.
