Can a future employer see a police accident report when they do a background check?

A truck school I applied for says they see my Rear End Collision accident that is not on my MVR. I checked. It is 100% CLEAN. It is unfortunate... I only have this accident but all 4 people in the car claimed injury and no trucking companies will hire me because the claim was so high. It is not on my MVR. I don't think it is anyone's business. I don't want to put it on any more applications. But the truck school saw it somehow??????? I have no idea how? But it is SAD for me. I cannot get a job in trucking. Please help! Thanks...

There are several ways a company could discover this information. In many states, accident reports are public records. But think about their concern: If you owned a trucking company, would you hire someone with a history of causing a multi-injury rear-end collision? If they did, and you had another injury crash in their truck, they get hit with enhanced liability for negligent hiring.
