If I am In bad standing with previous employer and was supposed to start a new job that has been delayed due to covid, who pays for the unemployment insurance t? I don’t want to start anything with my previous employer because they may be able to come after me legally and I don’t want to ruffle any feathers.

Hello: It would be the previous employer who may be contacted by the DOL - if they contest, you have remedies. Also, the new CARES ACT legislation re: UI benefits may be of assistance to you.
