Is an auto renewed apartment lease binding Virginia, if you have not signed it?

My daughter submitted in writing her decision not to renew her lease. The apartment complex would not accept it and told her she needed to submit it online. Which she thought she did but must not have completed properly and the lease auto renewed. She still has 100 days before she moves out and has not signed the auto renewed lease.
