What happens if I don’t pay an ambulance bill?
Anonymous10 views4 answers
Back in january my school called the ambulance and had me taken to the hospital because they thought something was wrong with me when in fact i was just having a really bad panic attack. there was nothing wrong with me besides low blood sugar because i hadn’t ate anything yet but a few months later my family got a bill of $800 for the ambulance fees. is there a way to get out of paying?

You are most likely liable for the ambulance bill, because it was for your safety. If you have health insurance, turn it on there. If you don't have any insurance, you may try to negotiate with either the person that called for it or the ambulance company itself.

See if the school has personal injury protection coverage on its general liability policy. If so, submit the bill to the school's carrier. If there is no PIP coverage, send the bill to your medical insurance carrier. If you do not have any coverage, consider voting Democratic in the upcoming national election. Trump is trying to take away medical coverage from millions of people currently covered by Obamacare. The pandemic is proving that everyone in America should have medical coverage like other civilized nations around the world.
No. This was an emergency service that benefited you. You should turn it into your health insurance company. also, you can call the ambulance company and ask if they will take a reduced amount. they often will, especially if you do not have health insurance.
If you take the benefit of the ambulance you are responsible for the service. Those who called the ambulance did not know what was wrong with you nor did the Ambulance service. Call them and ask if they will reduce the bill. $800 is not an abnormal charge from my experience.
