Denied Unemployment because only earnings were from January 2020 to March 2020.

My son was denied unemployment because his only earnings were from January 2020 to March 16, 2020. He filed for unemployment in late March 2020 and was denied because the Standard Base Period only looked at earnings ending in September 2019. If he had just applied 2 weeks later, on April 1, 2020, would he have qualified under the Alternate Base Period method? Can he just apply again? I am an attorney so please don' just say consult an attorney. Please only answer if you are really familiar with this process. Really need some guidance. Thanks so much.

It can be generally stated that the look back period is not going to change by waiting a bit longer to file. The look back period is determined by looking back the date of unemployment, not the date of filing. Good luck to you and to your son.
