What do I do when someone's accusing me of hitting their car?
Anonymous4 views3 answers
A month ago, a guy asked me if I hit his car. (We have parking spaces next to each other.) Now, a month later, he leaves a note on my car stating that he has new information and would like to meet with me to pay for his damages. The damage on my car is from my wife's co-worker, and upon seeing that, he assumed I hit his car. He also accuses me of denial when it was the truth that I didn't hit his car. I don't feel safe meeting a stranger especially an accuser, what's the best way to deal with this situation?
Since you feel unsafe meeting this person, send a letter or email if you have his address. Otherwise, there's no need to respond at all. If he sues you or files a claim, you can respond then. If he pesters you more, consider filing an anti-harassment petition.

You should refer him to your insurance company. Meeting in a public place, like the King County Law Library at the Kent Courthouse, is safe and maybe you can convince your accuser of your innocence.
