I was injured on the job 6 months ago and I am seeing a plastic surgeon every few months and wondering if there are settlements for facial scars in the state of Florida?

Yes, you are eligible for a settlement, but you should have a lawyer to maximize the value of your claim. Carriers do not have to settle with you but if it is in their interest to do so, they will. A lawyer will know how to make the carrier interested in a settlement. It depends on the value of your future medical care, the potential for additional indemnity for any time you may be taken off work in the future for surgery and recovery, and administrative costs, including fees, costs, etc. I hope this helps you to make a decision on the correct course to take, Sincerely, Robert Shapiro

Facial scar cases are difficult. Typically the carrier tries to avoid payment on these by alleging that they are not impacting on your functional ability. Since they are paying for the every few months visits, they dont appear to be denying anything yet. Usually a plastic surgeon wont recommend surgery on a scar until maturity which usually takes at least a year post accident and healing. You may not want to settle until after you get past that stage and you know whether you will need one or more surgeries to revise the scar. Seek legal help now so you can be prepared.

In order to answer your question effectively you may want to contact a workers compensation attorney in your area. In Florida, an employer is required to provide medical benefits and lost wages to those injured in the course and scope of their employment. Is workers compensation paying the plastic surgeon that you are seeing? What type of settlement are you referring to exactly? In order to give an accurate answer I believe you should consult an attorney
