Can you do jail time for not doing work crew and having a warrant out for it in Vancouver Wa?

My boyfriend got charged with a misdominer in Washington for distributing to minors a year ago and didn't do the work crew, and just found out he has a warrant and is turning himself in tomorrow AM at the court house in front of the judge. Was just curious what his chances are of being sent to jail and how long, he only was sent to do 10 days of work crew.

Its likely his sentence on the misdemeanor was 10 days to be served on work crew and 354 days suspended sentence. If that is true, the judge has considerable discretion and can sentence him to up to a year. Although, it is unlikely that he will get much more than the 10 days. I would certainly expect some jail time to be imposed. Your boyfriend skipped out on his work crew, therefore the court will be reluctant to sentence him to an alternative sentence such as work crew or EHD. The court will most likely remand him to serve his 10 days in custody. But, be prepared for a longer commitment since its entirely within the judges discretion. Christopher Anderson (206) 458-6986

Your boyfriend should hire a lawyer and explain to the court why his missed out on work crew. Judges routinely add jail time if you don't have a good reason. At a minimum, your boyfriend needs to get the warrant quashed, otherwise he'll just end up in jail when it's most inconvenient. JensenLegal.com (206) 617-9173
