Someone with no prior criminal record was arrested for a felony (making serious threats). Can the victim drop the charges?

My daughter came home after a 9 hour surgery. Her doctor said no one who hasn't been vaccinated can enter her home. She told her on-again-off-again boyfriend (who had been living with her for 3 1/2 yrs.) that he had to move out because he was a risk to her. He stayed away for less than a day and then threatened to come there. I (her mother) told him we would not let him in. He stated he didn't care and was on his way over. I called the police. He did not show up because of the lights and sirens. This happened two nights in a row. He was growing angrier and more panicked because he had no where to stay. The second night he said he was on his way he threatened that if we didn't let him in he would set fire to her house and stated he had a gun (which he did not). The police found him locally and arrested him. Someone bailed him out a few hours later. He and my daughter have since broken up, but she still cares a lot about him. My daughter never wanted him arrested and does not want him to have a criminal record. My question is can she request to have the charges dropped, and if so, how does she do that?

Has the victim's advocate reached out to your daughter yet? She can state her request to the victim's advocate and ask them to inform the prosecutor that she wants the charges dropped. Alternatively, she can locate the state's attorney's office for the town that he was arrested and charged in and call it to ask for the charges to be dropped. If she really wants to make sure that the charges are dropped, she should locate her ex-boyfriend's criminal defense attorney and tell him that she wants the charges dropped. He can then inform the court.
