Is it possible to change status form b1/b2 to F2?

Good morning, Here is my case, my boyfriend is currently in the US (1 month ago) and he has an f2 visa, by the time he applied, we hadn't thought about me going with him, because I have a good job in my country, but now he has been there He says He needs me more than ever, so I want to be with him while he finishes his studies. My question is, do we have to wait until next summer (that's when he's coming again) or can I travel to the US, so we can get married soon and change my status to f2? Or is it necessary that we do it from our home country. Thanks.

I agree with my colleague. You are not encouraged to hide the fact that you come to US to get married when you apply for your B visa. It will hurt your credibility, which is cornerstone of everything in US. Though it is inconvenient for you love birds, for credibility sake, I would advise to wait until he goes back.

If you are not in the US, you should wait until he is home and then get married. You will then apply for an F-2 visa at the US Embassy/Consulate.

i agree with these answers except that I don't think you need to wait until he gets home to get married. The main caution is that if you don't already have the B-2 be completely honest as to why you want it -- to join your fiance who is going to school as you want to get married and remain with him. It is possible to change yor status from B to F2. The hard part will be getting the B visa. You must be honest about your reasons for traveling when you apply for the B or it could hurt you later.
