Are FTA holds cleared on dmv record after 5 -10 years depending on offense ? Does that mean there is no longer a hold on license

On california dmv website it says FTAs* and FTPs* FTAs for DUI offenses will be reported for 10 years from the violation date.* All other FTAs and FTPs (CVC §12808c) will be reported for 5 years from the violation date. Do that mean after the alloted time passes for a FTA (10 years) the FTA will no longer create a hold on the license?

Most likely your license is expired but call mandatory actions at 916 657 6525 to find out the status of your license.

DMV doesn't issue FTA warrants. Courts do. DMV simply shows them on your record as 'holds' on your license until cleared. Warrants are forever. Courts are where you 'clear' warrants by appearing in court on them. After you do that, DMV can re-issue a license once all DMV other requirements have been complied with. Suggest you get an experienced criminal defense attorney, like one of us on this panel, to represent you in court on the warrant and the pending criminal charges you face after getting the warrant recalled.

Ftas are warrants there is no statute of limitations on them and they do not clear on the DMV record until you actually clear the warrant.
