Can i work if my work permit is expired?

My recent request to renew my work permit was denied for a reason that does not apply. I am filing for an appeal. Am I able to continue working if my work permit is expired? I have just applied for I-485. I do not want to jeapordize this application but I need to feed my family.

Don't jeapordize your chance for a greencard. Speak with an immigration attorney. Andre Olivie Seattle Immigration Lawyer 206-724-1940

You cannot work on the expired EAD. You need to have an experienced immigration attorney review the facts of your case to determine if there is any means to request a form of relief while the appeal is in process or can expidite the appeal based on policy error. Good luck.

You do not mention the reason for the denial if you have a pending I-485. should you wish to share this reason you will receive answers more relevant to your situation. You may not work if you do not have work permit, however there are exceptions, are you married to a USC? This is why retaining an immigration lawyer is of great importance to immigration cases, i would advice that you retain one immediately to avoid adverse immigration consequences. Immigration is a federal law, you can retain an immigration lawyer from any State to represent you. Goodluck.
