If I do community service before my first court appearance for a DUI (and they are willing to accept it) how do I document it?

Does it matter how i document it? Or can I just have a paper with the place filling out and signing the hours I complete with a date? Could the court not accept it if it is not documented on a proper form? Because I do not have a Probation Officer the Solicitor is not being very helpful to direct me in this.

The organization where you do your community service will give you a letter on their letterhead outlining what you do, when you did it, and they will include their contact information. Sent via BlackBerry by AT&T

Not much to add to what Mr. Yeargin said. He is correct - you should keep your own records too. Depending on the outfit for whom you do community service, they might rely on you to keep track of your hours.

I agree with the others-- just make sure the nonprofit with whom you are working accepts court-ordered service. Not all do. Those that do, know the drill and have the proper papers for you.
