How often does the executor legally have to inform the beneficiaries of the estate settlement status?

My father died leaving an estate to five children. My brother is executor. After the memorial service my brother and I had a huge falling-out. I have not heard anything from him in two weeks. I got a letter from the law office but that is all. Estate and other sibs are all in state of Minnesota. What are my legal rights as an heir in the process? What documents am I entitled to see?
I don't find it startling that two weeks has elapsed without hearing anything from the executor, particularly when the attorney for the estate has communicated with you. Beneficiaries of an estate are entitled to information, but it is wasteful of the estate's resources to endlessly send letters saying, "There's nothing to report. Stay tuned." If there is reason to believe that the estate is intentionally keeping you out of the loop and making frequent reportage to other beneficiaries but not to you, that would be a different story.
Good luck to you.
Since the estate is being administered in Minnesota the reporting requirements will be controlled by the probate law in that state. Here in California the reporting requirements vary depending whether the estate is being administrated with full authority or not. With full authority the beneficiaries are notified when important things are happening like the sale of a major asset or the completion of inventory. They also get notified of interim accountings distributions and final accountings. There is no requirement for weekly or monthly status reports. If you are really getting concerned you will need to hire an attorney in Minnesota familiar with the probate process there and get your answers. If you are being kept in the dark intentionally then he will know what to do such as make a request for an accounting. But you can be pretty sure that if the estate has to go through probate then it is not going to be settled in a few weeks or months.
