I only paid half of my child support...can I get in trouble?

Child Support 2 views 1 answers
I own my own construction company and usually pay myself a monthly salary. I have not paid myself this year as the business has been less then 3/4 of what is was last year. My child support was calculated using last years taxes and I can't afford that. I only sent $800 instead of $1500 this month. Can I get in trouble even though I am not receiving a paycheck? My house is being foreclosed, the soon to be ex took all my tools for work and every item in the house. I was left with NOTHING!

YES you can get in trouble for not paying. I am not licensed to practice law in PA, but know that all states enforce full payment of child support. You need to bring a motion to modify the child support amount based on your significant decrease in income. You need to call a local family law attorney to help.
