The notice of non-renewal is a no-fault notice, it simply means that your tenancy will end on the last day of this month. Today is the 9th; your landlord was kind enough to give you two extra days. The Legislature in its infinite wisdom has decided that 20 days is enough notice for either party to a residential rental agreement to terminate the agreement. If you are still living there on November 1, your landlord will have standing to commence an unlawful detainer, which will inevitably ruin your credit rating/ rental history. So what you should be doing is looking for a new place to live and planning your move. If you have a disability that makes moving difficult, you can write back to your landlord and request reasonable accommodation in the form of another month to move; you'll need to pay rent, but that request can serve as a defense to an unlawful detainer based on a 20-day notice. Hope this is helpful. Elizabeth Powell

If you live in Seattle you might be in a better position as it has a "just cause" ordinance which says that the there are only specific situations which allow the landlord to evict a tenant and the termination of a lease is not one of them. Discuss your case with an experienced landlord/tenant lawyer to see if it or some other feature of your lease might allow you to stay.
