Speeding Ticket in South Carolina with NC license
Anonymous4 views4 answers
On 16th October 2011, i got a speeding ticket in South Carolina. The violation was 41 in 25mph zone. The speed sign boards were 35->25->40->55 all within a short distance in Marion. I was stopped by the cop when i had passed even the 55mph and i was doing 44mph then. I tried explaining the cop that i increased the speed once i saw the changing signs, but he said "i understand your concern but i triggered you in the 25mph zone, the sign boards are put by highway authorities, i cant do anything with the quick changing sign boards". I was given a ticket with $180.
How should i go about this ticket, i want to make sure it does not effect my NC DL and insurance points..
Variable speed zones are often difficult and confusing for drivers. You are smart to be concerned about points and insurance costs. Because this is a moving violation, you might be wise to put your best foot forward and retain the services of an attorney experienced in handling moving violations and speeding tickets in South Carolina. A traffic ticket attorney licensed to practice law in SC can help you figure out the best course and hopefully obtain a result for you where your DL stays clean and your insurance doesn't increase.
It's important that you have a local South Carolina attorney assist and advise you. Convictions from out of state can affect your North Carolina insurance premiums and even your right to drive. Because lawyers in South Carolina are not allowed to send letters advertising their services, you will have to be proactive about finding a lawyer who can help. My best advice is to search the internet for a traffic lawyer in Marion, SC.
Good luck!
You need to hire an attorney in SC to help you with the ticket. If the SC ticket isn't properly resolved it may affect your license in NC, and may increase your insurance. You'll want to get the ticket reduced as much as possible. If you call my office I can give you the name of an attorney we've used in Marion County, SC.
Hire a South Carolina licensed attorney to make this ticket get at least reduced below 15 over. I am not NC licensed attorney (I am a VA attorney) but I represent a lot of NC people charged with speeding offenses in VA and my understanding is that a 15 mph over or more ticket out-of-state will result in a 30 day suspension of your NC license.
