Validity of EAD for L2 visa holder spouse

I am in Michigan, US on L1. My L1 Blanket Visa is valid till Aug-02-2012. My I94 expiry date is Nov-05-2014. My wife has L2 visa valid till Aug-03-2012. She has not yet come to US, so will have the I94 date after she arrives in US. If she has to continue work in US, we will have to apply for EAD after she arrives in US. So, the question here is what is the rule that decides the EAD validity? Is it the L2 visa holder's visa expiry date or L2 visa holder's I94 expiry date, or L1 visa holder's visa expiry date or just fixed period from the date of issuing the EAD?

The L2 valid visa's EAD maximum time of issuance is 2 years. That is the stated maximum, but in reality it is usually provided for a single year. You should contact your employer's attorney who can provide you a legal opinion. Good luck.

I agree with my colleague. Have your company lawyer address further concerns you may have. Goodluck.

I agree with my colleague, C.C. Abbott - allowed for two years, but normally only granted for one starting from the date of approval (but not past the L-2 validity, which is normally itself not granted past the L-1 validity and legally is dependent on continuing L-1 validity).
