Would a stranger post pictures of you on the net?

I spoke for about 10 minutes to some stranger on windows live. I sent him semi nude pictures of me (well one nude, one with bra on, and one of myself). He sent me some of him too. (His privates). I felt guilt swim over me so I deleted my account on messenger, all the pics he sent me, blocked him and I havn't heard from him since. The pics I sent him aren't that good. The're just me posing, but I'm really worried he might do something with them. I don't remember much about him only that he was from California. We were both only interested in sex talk, well he wasn't saying much, but I was. The most he got out of my private life was the pics and my first name, and possibly were I was from. Do you think he could be bothered to do anything with the pics? Could he?

I would say their could be many CIVIL remedies you as the wronged person may have, but we need all of the facts. It depends. It's a very fact specific analysis, and I can't give you a yes or no answer based on what you've posted. Generally speaking, it is not illegal to post a photo of someone on the internet without their permission if the person consented to the photo being taken or didn't have a reasonable expectation of privacy. Internet privacy rights are in a state of flux. A big hurdle here is that the photos were put on windows live That is not private and that website has warnings about that. Federal rulings and state rulings by the various state court systems provide some guidance, but each situation is very fact specific. Without a great deal more information about the particulars in your situation, a meaningful answer is not possible. A good number of commentators suggest that the internet is a public forum with little privacy options available. Inroads to adopt and enforce privacy rights are being made, however. California is a state that has had a couple strong opinions that would be useful for your lawyer in FL to see. Age is one big factor of information missing from your post. You may want to have your friend review the information provided by the US Dept of Justice at this site: http://www.usdoj.gov/criminal/ceos/citizensguide_porn.html . Taking pictures of a person under 18 is against federal law A public picture of you taken in a public place and posted on the internet that causes no harm to you is quite different than an intimate picture of you taken in a private place that is posted publicly on the internet and causes you harm. Contact a local FL lawyer that will provide a consultation to you so you might explain your situation in more detail. Good luck to you.
