I am very sorry to hear this. Medical malpractice cases are very difficult. You have to prove that the doctor beached the prevailing professional standard of care and caused injury to you. This requires not only hiring an attorney but also having a medical expert review your records and testify on your behalf. These cases have become so expensive to prosecute that in order for you to recover more than it will cost to try your case you have to have significant economic and non-economic damages. This typically means the injury must be catastrophic. Plus, if you have health insurance, Medicare, etc. you have to reimburse them for any expenses they paid related to the injury. In short, you can have a clear cut case of malpractice and yet find that a civil lawsuit is not a realistic option. If you are going to be fine now a malpractice suit probably will not be a good option for you. An alternative would be to file a complaint against the doctor with the Agency for Healthcare Administration. Good luck to you.

I generally agree with Mr. Costantino's answer. Medical malpractice cases are expensive to prosecute. If you have been told by a physician that the cause of your slow healing and need for successive surgeries was due to the stitch that was left inside you during the first surgery, you should contact a local FL personal injury attorney to discuss the strengths and weaknesses of a potential claim. Inquire about the statute of limitations for a medical negligence case.
