Found out i have a bench warrant from seven years ago for a traffic ticket in California. I don't live in that state anymore. What do i do? Or does it go away?

You can pay the ticket, which will clear the warrant, or you can ignore it, if you are not going to be in California and the outstanding ticket is not interfering with your driver's license in your state of residence. California has just enacted an amnesty program that allows you to pay old fines at 50 cents on the dollar, or half off. This amnesty will only be available through the month of June, so if you are going to pay the fine, this would be the time to do it. Good luck to you.

Mr> Pullman is correct. With a 7 year old ticket it may be worth your while to fight it by retaining a traffic ticket attorney. It is doubtful that the police agency even has a copy of your ticket-or the Officer might not be there. If not available case is dismissed. No points on your DMV record! Andrew Roberts

Both gentlemen are correct. Depending on what the ticket was for, you need to decide if you want to ignore it, pay it at the reduced rate available through June, or fight it if you are worried about the driving record points or don't want to pay the reduced fine. If you want to fight it, you would want to find a lawyer around the courthouse where your ticket resides, as a local attorney will give you a better rate than a non-local attorney.
