I pawned a computer I had rented from Rent A Center but continued making payments - what do i do to avoid jail?

Okay, so in the beginning of October, I rented the Acer A500 tablet from my local Rent-A-Center. I made a couple of payments and then some catastrophe happened & I needed money IMMEDIATELY, so I pawned it. When I had rented it, they (RAC) kept repeating "this is as good as yours now, its rent to OWN" so I thought it would be okay (yes, I know, stupid assumption). I continued to pay RAC for another several weeks (while it was still in the pawn shop) and I also payed some to the pawn shop to get the balance down. RAC found out and had me arrested for "theft by fraudulent leasing". The police have also recovered the tablet from the pawn shop. I am paying of my balance at the pawn shop tomorrow even thought the police have the item. What do I do now? Is there a way to settle for money?
