Who has access to the information given in a deposition (Civil) in TN and how do I get a copy?

My grandsons Mother stated a LOT of lies about me in a deposition given during a visitation battle over my grandson. These lies would affect my employment as I currently have high security clearance and work at an operating nuclear facility. I am terrified this stuff will get out on the street and will affect my employment as well as my personal life. I am seriously thinking of bringing a suit against her but I need to know where to start and what was absolutely said, therefore I need a copy for proof.

I would expect to find copies of depositions in the court jacket which are open to the public unless the record is sealed. Additionally, you can order a copy from the court reporter who transcribed the deposition.

The parties involved may not have ordered a copy of the deposition as this is an additional cost to most depositions. It also may not have been filed with the court if the parties didn't feel it was necessary. Are you in good terms with one of adults involved with the case? If so, you should ask that person if a transcript was ordered and if you can view a copy of it.

If the deposition has been filed, you can review it at the courthouse and ask the Clerk for a copy. Typically, the Clerks offices charge $ 1.00 per page for photocopying. If it hasn't been filed, someone will need to buy a copy from the Court Reporter. Good luck.
