Cause numbers contain information about the county, court, the month it was filed, the type of case, and number of those that have been filed. For example a cause number like this 84D01-1105-DF-334 would mean this: 84 - the county in which the case is filed (84 is Vigo County, like on license plates) D01- Superior Court Division One in that county 1105 - the year and month of filing (May, 2011) DF - the type of case (DF is D felony) 334 - The number of that level of case

Your case number is a federal docket number, not state. The first numbers have to do with case type, year (2012) docket number and the last three initials refer to the judge.

First, I must disclose that I am licensed in the state of Louisiana and am not licensed in Indiana. The number "1:12-mc-00002-rbc" is likely referring to your docket number. This docket number likely has some reference as to date, division, and other relevant information. I recommend that you contact the Clerk of Court for the Judicial District Court that your case is in. The Clerk's office will probably be able to answer this question. I would then call an attorney for a consultation.
