Had false ppo filed against me in Michigan. How to recoup lawyer fees, lost wages, etc.

I hired a lawyer to remove a pergeriously filed ex parte ppo. This ppo was filed by a married woman with whom my husband was having an affair. She was attempting to ensure her husband did not find out about the affair. (Please note that I have never spoken to, threat ened, or had any contact with this woman). When faced with a hearing to have the ppo removed, the woman signed a motion to terminate. What is my recourse? I have attorney fees, wages lost from work, severe depression, anxiety. My 14 year old son witnessed me being served the PPO. I received police calls threatening criminal harassment charges. All allegations stated in the ppo are unsubstanciated. I want recourse monitarily and an explanation from the court regarding why the PPO was issued.

The time to ask for costs was at the PPO hearing and it seems that you did not. You could begin a separate lawsuit alleging misuse of the court system but that will cost additional attorney fees and time off of work. The system doesn't quite presume that people will sue one another with absolutely no basis but that seems to be what happened to you. The Court doesn't owe you an explanation -- it granted the ex parte PPO based on the allegations, which is how it is supposed to work. Seems to me that the way to prevent additional disruption in your life is to move on...
