My husband owes $2100 in back child support. His refund was almost $3000. Will they take it all or just what he owed?

We have been really worried about this. They should just take what he owes right? And when they back support is paid off, will they still take his taxes?

I agree that Domestic Relations will only receive the amount due and owing to you. I would check with your enforcement officer at your county Domestic Relations office as to the status and amount of the IRS intercept.

They should only take what is currently owed as that is the amount of the lien. He should receive a check for the difference. It isn't usually difficult to call the IRS directly to find out how much his refund check will be--try it. Good luck!
