I agree with Attorney Smith. You need to articulate why you need to document the receiving and disbursing of checks. What is the goal you are trying to achieve? In what type of business are you engaged? What is the volume of checks you expect to receive and disburse on a daily, weekly or monthly basis?

There may be various ways to document receipt and disbursement of funds/checks. If you want to document when a check is received, I suppose you can time stamp them as they come in, and also save the envelope with which they were mailed. You can also establish a log where each item is logged in and logged out. As well, you can purchase various accounting software in which you can input your relevant data. Your bank statements will show each deposited and disbursed item, and some banks will allow you to have access to such records online.
