Canadian with two very old unpaid WA state speeding tickets...

I'm planning on moving from BC to Oregon relatively soon, and these old unpaid Washington speeding tickets are a concern. Both are from the mid-late 1980s; one was in Okanogan County and the other Grant or Franklin county (not sure which). I don't recall that either included a summons, but I could be wrong about that (they were not excessively over the limit as I recall). These have never come up at the border crossing when I drive to Washington, and I have never received reminders for these. I will be applying for an Oregon license (and driving through Washington quite a bit) so I'm a bit concerned that they may come up. What should be done about this? TIA.

It's very possible that these tickets may be off the grid by now. I know that in Florida after, 7? years the tickets are closed out. I would call to find out status in the jurisdictions you received the tickets. You might try checking with the state licensing agency in Washington to see if they have any record of the tickets.

I agree with the previous answer and would add that you should be prepared to pay the old tickets when you apply for your new OR license. Good Luck

You may find out how good their records are when/if you attempt to obtain a WA drivers license. www.PhillyInjuryLawyer.com
