Since I was not driving, will this affect my driving record? If so, how can I request court supervision?

A friend was driving my car. I was a passenger. I was issued a ticket for illegal transportation. I am over 21 and so is the driver. The ticket was issued in Tazewell County, Illinois. The ticket is $120 and says no court appearance is required.

Illegal transportation as a passenger over 21 should not be reported on your driving record unless the clerk makes an error. Therefore, supervision would not be needed but you might want it anyway in case the clerk fouls up.

If no court appearance is required, you are likely dealing with an ordinance violation than a State criminal charge. Two convictions for open alcohol within 12 months will result in a license suspension. Furthermore, the Secretary of State can suspend or revoke your license for a number of reasons based on your driving history. You'd be best served getting a driver's abstract and bringing it to an attorney before you do anything.
