Temporarily Totally Disabled (TTD) benefits in California.
Anonymous3 views3 answers
When and How long will one receive TTD payment once qualified and is there any restriction?
How long is the TTD once approved (for injury in 2011)?
What is the TTD paid?
Do I need a lawyer to get TTD?
Your reply is much appreciated.

Here is a link to the DWC Website which has multiple user-friendly pamphlets that overview WC Procedures and Benefits. After you print and review them, please feel free to come back for any clarifications.

You technically do not need an attorney to receive benefits, but practically it makes things a bit smoother. The maximum weekly rate is about $986 presently. It changes every year based upon a Wage Study from the prior year.

I've shared your question with the workers' compensation law forum, where your question may be seen by more attorneys who practice in this area of the law.

If you were a federal employee when you were injured and were awarded TTD, there is no time limit. You can continue to collect TTD as long as the weight of the medical evidence shows that you are totally disabled.
Federal employees should remember that giving up TTD and accepting a light duty job and a Schedule Award may be to your financial advantage. You should consult a union steward or a lawyer as soon as possible. Having a lawyer is not a requirement for collecting TTD, but it will help.
Good luck
