You need to call a tax attorney immdediately. Whether they can get their money back will depend on the nature of the tax problem, how long the funds have been siezed and whether the funds can be returned. The longer it has been, the less likely the funds can be returned. If the a levy has been served on a bank account, the funds can be released under certain cirumstances. Good luck! Phillip M. Attorney Smith is correct. There are usually tight deadlines in challenging these matters. You will need to get a tax attorney. Since it involves state taxes, the IRS Low Income Taxpayer Clinics are probably not an option but you can always call one and see if they will deal with state tax issues. http://www.irs.gov/advocate/article/0,,id=146985,00.html You will probably be more successful if you call one of the University clinics. There is always some motivated student there that wants to tear into a state tax issue for the experience. Christopher Larson www.insightlawfirm.com www.insightlawfirm.wordpress.com

Banks are supposed to be sensitive regarding disability and social security deposits. Pull out the stops, talk with the bank and get legal help. I know the players in LA and OC counties but not as familiar with San Bernardino county. Nevertheless, the link below is to Legal aid in SB
