I will have to give deposition in Indiana. I live in Florida. I am the defendant. I do not have an attorney...don't have money to pay. This is a civil tort. Shouldn't Plaintiff pay for my travel expenses, after all he is the one digging for answers he doesn't have, to sue me for money I don't have??? thanks

You did not say who subpoenaed you for the deposition, a plaintiff or defendant. You also did not say if you were willing to testify or if you would not testify unless compelled. You did not say if you wanted to be helpful to any party for any reason. All those questions are relevant. Most importantly, you did not say whether or not the subopoena you received was domesticated in Florida or was just issued from Indiana. If a party really wants someone who is too poor to travel to testify, then that party will usually travel to the witness and not expect you to travel. Also, if they suspect that you may not be willing, and they want to make sure that you are compelled to testify by law, then they will bother to get the subpoena domesticated in your state according to your state laws. I can't give you legal advice because I do not represent you. You should only rely on legal advice from a lawyer that you hire. But I hope this helps, nonetheless.
