Can a debt collector refuse to give me their mailing address?
Anonymous2 views2 answers
I am dealing with GC Services and I am receiving harrassing phone calls at work. My husband is also receiving these calls. I phoned them back to get their maiiling address and the lady I spoke to Ms. Major said "I am not going to give you our mailing address" after I told her that I was going to mail them a letter. She said "get it fron Chase, " can they do that?
If you owe the money to Chase you contact their customer service department and inform them they have sold your debt to a collection service which is violating the fair debt collection act. Inform them you plan to sue Both Chase and GCservices. Since there are fines in place for what they are doing, many attorneys will take these matters on contingency. You also might want to contact your local Congressman about new laws needed to curb these violations. You might find the NJ website Defeat PresslerandPressler informative. Their "tricks" are used all over the US by similar firms.

Greeetings,
If GC Services is contacting you at work after you have told them not to contact you there you most likely have a FDCPA case. You can sue them and recover some money, get them to stop harassing you, and have your attorneys fees paid for. I strongly encorage you to get in touch with an attorney. For more information on the FDCPA, visit www.fairdebthelpers.com.
Good luck!
