Is it illegal for someone to falsely accuse you of theft, if so can you sue if you are being accused?

I am a teen looking for help. I have been accused by a teacher of stealing school property. she has told me that "If i don't get the camera back, I'm going to get the police and principle involved." This is apposing a threat to me. Because I did not commit this crime i was looking for some legal help on the situation. Anything will help! Thank You.

If someonw intentially files a false report with the police, that would be unlawful. Should someone actually believe you committed the crime and reports the same, then that would not be unlawful. I would get your parents involved and others who can back up your story before the teacher takes it to the police.

The best course of action here is to tell your parents and have them call the teacher and/or school principal to discuss rather than thinking about a lawsuit.

I would agree with other counsel that you should discuss this with your parents, and the school administration and try to work it out on that end before you start thinking about legal action. If you get no resolution there, then you can consider speaking with a personal injury lawyer in your area to assess potential defamation clasims.
