If you pick up a second dui your license will be able to get a restricted license after a minimum 12 month suspension. Work furlough will probably not approve your work schedule, but you need to ask them.

DMV suspends your license for 1 year for a second DUI. Some counties have IID pilot programs but I don't believe ventura is one of them. As for work furlough generally those hours do not work with a work furlogh program but there may be other options available that could work with your situation. Speak with a few local attorneys.

Recent changes in the law have allowed second time DUI offenders the oppportunity to obtain a restricted driver's license prior to the one year time frame. After a hard 90-day suspension from the date of your conviction, you become eligible for a restricted driver's license if you install an ignition interlock device in your vehicle, obtain an SR-22 from your insurance company, enroll in the second offender 18 or 30-month DUI program, and pay the reinstatment fee for your license to the DMV. Typically work furlough programs operate only in daytime hours, but you should seek legal counsel to assist you in contesting the charges and/or trying to negotiate a reduced charge or an alternative means of fulfilling your sentence.

I practice in Ventura County. Ventura has some of the toughest DUI sentence positions in the state. You will be doing some time and at least an 18 - 30 month alcohol program. Work forlough is going to be tough. You need an attorney to deal with this. Andrew Roberts

For these circumstances, you definitely need an attorney's help. Specifically, you will need an attorney who does a LOT of work in Ventura County, especially for a second time DUI. Plus, there is a combination of working on the DMV along side of the court. The DMV will suspend your license for a year on a second DUI. The court will do it for two years. But a new law allows an interlock device after 90 days, and you will get to drive.

You can obtain a license after a second offense provided you (1) install a breath machine on your car, (2) have an SR 22, and (3) enroll in DUI school. This law was passed last year, after I testified for it in Sacramento. As for work forlough, that is up to the Sheriff to decide.
