A Dollar General store is being built on the lot next to my house. Do I have any rights?

A 9100 sq ft Dollar General is being built next to my house. The back of the store will be about 75 feet from my deck and kitchen window. I bought my house in 1998. There has been a wooded somewhat steep hill next to my house since I bought it. The trees on the hill were cleared last week and they will be bringing in dirt to backfill towards my house. The store will be sitting 20-30 feet above the main level of my house. i am already upside down on my mortgage. This new construction isn't going to make my situation better. Do i have any rights as a home owner?

Most likely, you do not have any rights to halt construction next door as long as the store meet zoning restrictions and does not violate any setback lines.

If your house is in a commmercial zone it might have greater value than you paid for it as a resiedence. You should look into the zoneing regulations, and be sure that Dollar Stores did everygthing proper to get a building permit and if an Environmental Impact Statement was reauired, with public hearings, to which you should have received invitations. You may want to consult a lawyer.
