What should I do if my family Doctor touched me in and inappropriate manner during a visit?

I went to my family doctor to have him check my lungs. I am sick. He commented on how much I lost in weight. And we discussed my over all symptoms. He sat me on the exam table and sat next to me to listen to my lungs. He lifted my hoodie up over my chest and back to listen to my lungs. He told me he was concerned that I had pneumonia in my upper left lobe and possibly my upper right. Then he reached over and grabbed my left breast and said, " well it does not look like you lost any weight here"? And jiggled it for a second then he let go. I jumped up and pulled my top down and sat in the chair. I was mortified. Why??? I don't know what to do. I have been molested when I was a child. I had come to terms with that. Now this??? What should I do??? Thanks~

Call the police department where the doctor's office is located and file a report. Sexual assault/molestation offenses are crimes that are generally taken very seriously by police departments. If it happened to you, it could have happened (or could be happening) to other patients, as well.

This is horrible. First and foremost take care of yourself and your mental state of health. I strongly request that you report him to your State licensing committee - I believe this is the Pennsylvania Department of State.

Most important thing is to take care of yourself. Change your doctor, do a written request to have your records forwarded to a new physician. Notify the PA State Board of Medicine and file a complaint. You can download a complaint form at http://www.portal.state.pa.us/portal/server.pt/community/state_board_of_medicine/12512/consumer_information/599422. Also if this Dr. is part of group, inform the group what happened and as this is also a criminal offense so you also notifiy the police.

First, I am sorry to hear this has happened once before. Take care of yourself, make sure you are ok. I would first contact the police and file a report. Sexual offenses are considered extremely haneous and they take them serious. They will do an investigation. If this happened to you, it probably has happened to others as well. You can also contact the State Licensing agency and mention it to them. They will also do an investigation and could act accordingly. Change doctors, request your files sent to another doctor you feel comfortable with. Best of luck!
