How can I obtain traffic camera footage?

7 views 3 answers
Recently in a car accident in which the other party made an illegal turn and totalled our vehicle. It's been over a month and their parties insurance has not yet provided any coverage. We have the police report stating witnesses to their illegal turn, but they claim they need the footage as proof before they can do anything. On top of that the other party was originally attempting to claim on our insurance.

It sounds like the other party's insurance carrier is playing games. If you or any other passengers in the car sustained personal injuries as a result of this accident, I would say at this point you need a lawyer to intercede on your behalf and communicate with the other party's insurance carrier, take witness statements, and conduct a thorough investigation with respect to liability and damages. Our office has a great deal of experience dealing with automobile accident and insurance coverage cases and we have an office in Media. I would be happy to speak with you in more detail about your situation. Feel free to email me directly at [email protected] or call me at 610-565-3700.

A personal injury lawyer in your state can get the footage for you. If you or anyone was injured, even just sore neck/sore back, a lawyer can get you money for pain and suffering in addition to getting your vehicle fixed. Find a lawyer with a low contingency fee, less than 30%, so you are left with some money after the lawyer's fee. Good luck.

Setting aside whether their request is reasonable, you may have to file a summons to have a means to subpoena the tapes from the police. Especially state police, many departments won't give you anything except the basic report without a subpoena.
